Hebbie Thomas Purvis, 77, of Georgetown, KY passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. He was married to his best friend and love of his life for 55 years, Annell Hall Purvis. Together they have a daughter, Yvonne De Ann Hardin and son-in-law, Kenneth Ott Hardin and a son, Hebbie Thomas Purvis II and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Thomas-Purvis. They also have three dear grandchildren, Everett Merrill Hardin, Emma Anne Purvis, and Meredith Margret Hardin. Other survivors include his brothers and sisters, Neville (Betty) Purvis, J.N. (Anita) Johnson, Jr., Peggy (Sam) Brawner, Marvin Douglas Johnson, Ila Gayle (Sheila) Purvis, Brenda Joyce (Lee) Abner and Pamela (Buel) Guy.
He was a graduate of Stamping Ground High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He served honorably in the United States Army. He was retired from the Square D Company serving many positions including General Manager and Supervisor for over 30 years.
Hebbie was a member of the Berea Christian Church, serving as Elder and Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years. During the last few years, he was a member of the Stamping Ground Christian Church.
He was a member and former director of the Central Kentucky Knife Club, a Kentucky Colonel, former acting President of Lexington Little League baseball, former member of the University of Kentucky 101 Club, and member of The Club at Spindletop Hall.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Stamping Ground Christian Church by Rev. Bruce A. Breeding. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Stamping Ground. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1317 US Highway 62-E, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
