Obituary for Henry Davis Jones

Henry Davis Jones, 72, widower of Eulavene Jones, passed away, Saturday, November 21, 2015. A native of Scott County, he was the son of the late Malcolm Henry and Mabel Jones.

He worked in communications at GTE for 33 years, an employee for Whitaker Bank and was a bus driver for the Scott Co. Public School System for 10 years. Henry was a musician all his life who loved to sing and play the guitar. He played music with the “Bullshippers”. He loved to go to the Red Barn in Northern Kentucky to play music and sing from the stage. He loved “pickin and grinin” as he would say. And he made many a friend that way. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his daughters, Beverly (Joe) Ellis of Georgetown, KY and April (Brad) Toncray of Chesapeake, VA. Three grandchildren who called him “POE”, Jesse L. (Kaitlyn) Ellis, Joseph L. (Kristina) Ellis and William E. Toncray. Three great grandchildren, Josephine M. Ellis, Marley B. Silvestri and Dylan J. Silvestri. Brothers, Malcolm (Lillian) Jones, Jr and Larry C. (Faye) Jones; sisters, Elaine (Jimmy) Rutledge, Lois (Harry) Rogers, Thelma J. (Joe) Offuitt, Wanda M. (Kenneth) Reed and Joyce A. (Leon) Parker. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph W. Jones, Gaius L. Jones, James L. Jones and Cromer L. Jones.

Graveside services will be 1 PM Friday, November 27, 2015 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by John France and Jim Calloway. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass 2312 Alexandria Dr, Lexington, KY 40504. Johnson’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
