Evelyn Dixon Newton, 78, widow of Alvie Newton, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016. Born in Georgetown, she was the daughter of the late Kermit and Mary West Dixon.

A former waitress, she was an active member of Victory Tabernacle Church where she sang in the choir and led the nursing home ministry. She enjoyed helping others daily, and was an accomplished clog dancer.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Charlie) Alexander, Georgetown, Ralph (Connie) Tackett, Georgetown and Russell (Susan) Tackett, Sadieville; brother, Kermit Dixon, Lexington; sister, Janice Goodin, Georgetown; grandchildren, Michael, Maria, Joey, Ross, John, Shaun, Justin and Brian; as well thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister’s Diana Young, Beulah Shockley and Ruth Wright.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday at Johnson’s Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Connie Jackson. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be John Tackett, Justin Tackett, Joey Tackett, Shaun Beaucham and Jason Wright. Visitation will be 3-6 PM Sun.
