R.C. “Chuck” Johnson, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday, April 20th, 2016, in the loving presence of his family. Chuck was the son of the late R.C. and Lucille Honaker Johnson and a lifelong resident of Georgetown.
Following his father’s death, Chuck, at the age of nineteen, became the third generation funeral director and owner of Johnson’s Funeral Home. For over fifty years he dedicated his life to compassionately serving families in their time of need. Chuck was a graduate of Georgetown College, member of Faith Baptist Church and Hambrick Sunday School Class. He served as President of the Scott County Public Library, President of Montessori School of Cardome, and former member of Georgetown Kiwanis Club and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Chuck and Frankie were recently honored with the Ambassador Award from Second Chance Society for their outstanding dedication and support.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of fifty two years, Frankie C. Johnson; three children, Katherine D. Johnson, of Louisville, Elizabeth L. Johnson-Jones (Rod), of Georgetown and Roy Charles Johnson III (DC Zhong), of Hong Kong; one grandson, Cyrus Gaines Felfeli, of Louisville; and devoted friends Horace and Maribeth Hambrick, of Georgetown.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, 641 South Broadway. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11am at Faith Baptist Church by Rev. Bob Fox and Rev. Mark Caldwell.
