Obituary for Leslie Murphy Sharon

Leslie Murphy Sharon, 88, husband of Jean Clifton Sharon, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016. Born in Scott County, he was the son of the late Arthur Oliver and Margaret Mason Sharon.

A relentless work ethic and design talent help him develop into a Master Craftsman Builder where for 70 years he built or restored hundred of homes, churches, and businesses in Central KY; first as half of the successful partnership known as Sharon and Stone Builders, then simply as L. M. Sharon.

Ordained in 1962 as a deacon in the Midway Baptist Church, he served with dedication as Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, Trustee, Finance Committee Chair, and took a leading role in the major building restoration during the 1960s. A long-time citizen of Midway and Kentucky Colonel, he gave of his time and talents where needed to help make a stronger community; often seen working on something around town that needed to be fixed.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his daughters, Leslie “Libby” Warfield (David), Margaret “Peggy” Sharon, and Cynthia Jean Karrick (Philip); six grandchildren Wendy Warfield Creech (Jonathan), Matt Warfield, Kristina Sharon Fett (Scott), Mason Karrick (Heather), Sharon Karrick, and Spencer Karrick; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Murphy and Mackenzie Creech, Logan, Landon, and Cora Fett, Aubrey Karrick. and Karson Karrick; and one brother Marvin Clay Sharon (Bessie). He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Mason and Melvin Heath Sharon; and one sister Margie McCracken Hatton.

Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Georgetown, KY with funeral services 1:30 pm on Monday at the Midway Baptist Church, Midway, KY. Burial to follow at the Midway Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Austin Creech, Jonathan Creech, Scott Fett, Mason Karrick, Spencer Karrick, and Matt Warfield. Honorary casket bearers will be Dr. Norman Fisher, Charles Logan, James K. Johnson, Dr. Gary Earle, Danny Faye, Wayne Richardson, and John Ward. Memorials may be made to the Midway Baptist Church.
