Obituary for Opal G. Chaney (Allen)

Opal G. (Allen) Chaney, 88, widow of Arthur Chaney, passed away Sunday, November 13th, 2016 in Hazard, Kentucky. She was born October 20th, 1928 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Oscar Allen and Eva (Combs) Allen Hudson. Opal is survived by one son, Chester (Karla) Chaney; two daughters, Helen (Ed) Zelan and Jackie (Jim) Shaver; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Chaney; seven grandchildren, Toney (Victoria) Chaney, Jr., Ed Zelan, Jr., Chanda (Jeremy) Davis, Angie (Billy) Coleman, Charmoin (Jeffrey) Holliday, Jamie (Aaron) Mullins, Kelly (Bryce) Mikulich; thirteen great-grandchildren; special niece, Opal (Willie) Chaffin; two sisters, Nancy Smith and Della (Edsel) Nichol; two brothers, James (Dora) Allen and George (Doris) Allen. In addition to her husband, Opal was preceded in death by one son, James Toney Chaney, Sr.; two sisters, Dulce Caudill and Adna Golbus; three brothers, Pearl Allen, Hoy Allen and Robert Allen. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16th from 5 to 8pm at Engle-Bowling Funeral Home, 301 East Main Street in Hazard, where services will be held on Thursday, November 17th at 11am with Pastor David Gambill officiating. Burial will be in Holliday Cemetery.
