Obituary for Melvia Lou Lancaster

Melvia Lou Hamilton Lancaster 88, widow of Oliver Wilfred “O.W.” Lancaster, Jr, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Born in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Portland and Jennie Ellen Stuard Hamilton.

A graduate of Great Crossing High School and Kentucky Business School, she was a long time bank officer with First National Bank before retiring as Assistant Vice President and Bank Manager with Whitaker Bank. She enjoyed listening to gospel and country music as well as her quiet time to herself.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Cannon, Georgetown and Judy (Mike) Easley, Stamping Ground; grandchildren, Jacqueline Lou Harris, John Lucas and Oliver Landen Easley; great granddaughter, Jilliann Harris. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristen Carol Cannon; as well as three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be John Lucas Easley, Oliver Landen Easley, Bruce McMillan, Ronald Hamilton, Robert Wright, Glenn Williams and John Reynolds. Honorary bearers will be Tom Hafley, Julian Singer, John Bratten, Sam Ward, Gervis Showalter, Judy Turenne, Carolyn Miflin and Carolyn McMillan. Visitation will be 11 AM till service time. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 112 E College St, Georgetown, KY 40324 or Stamping Ground Christian Church, 3210 Main St. Stamping Ground, KY 40379.
