Edith Mae McCoy, 95, widow of Frank McCoy, passed away Tuesday, January 31st, 2017. She was born May 11th, 1921 in Pikeville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Charlie and Zettie (Stratton) Smith. Edith attended Grace Christian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Rose; four grandchildren, Mark Rose, Jennifer (Michael) Barrett, Jason Rose and Amy (David) Ross; five great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Rose, Cole Barrett, Raegan Barrett, Alexandria Ross and Logan Ross; two sisters, Lorna Plymale and Opal Layne. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Smith; one brother, Ira Smith; four sisters, Eva Thompson, Reva Maynard, Darlene Porter and Nora Tibbs. Edith enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and friends and flowers of all kinds, but especially roses. Edith worked full time until she was seventy five and enjoyed meeting new people any chance she could. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edith’s first visitation will be Friday, February 3rd from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Georgetown. Her second visitation will be Sunday, February 5th from Noon until time of service at 2pm at J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home, Pikeville. Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Rose, Jason Rose, Michael Barrett, Cole Barrett, Robert Ramsey, Joe B. Ramsey and Robert Miser. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
