Obituary for Alice Elizabeth Lewis McCall

Sis. Alice E. McCall, affectionately called “sister” by her family and friends and called “sugar” by her grand and great grandchildren was born on November 21, 1931 in Scott County, KY to the late Bettie Green Lewis and William Matt Lewis. She was the wife of the late William McCall.

She was a dedicated member of Great Crossing Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully and willingly until the end. She served as secretary of the Sunday School for many years until sickness forced her to retire. She was the teacher for the nursery and beginners class of the Sunday School that she loved dearly for over 50 years. She also served on the culinary committee, was a charter member of the first young adult choir, member of the senior choir and served on the Lord’s Super and Baptismal committee. She was a graduate of Ed Davis High School. Sister Alice McCall and the late William McCall were married on August 12, 1951.

Unforgettable memories of Alice will be shared by her one and only son, Terry McCall; granddaughter, Tara (Earl) Washington; grandsons, Jody (Vanessa) McCall, William McCall and Christopher McCall; seven great grandchildren, Isaiah, Samuel, Maleah, Cierra, Malaki, Zoey and Korben; two sisters, Lula Taylor and Hattie Willis; two sisters in law, Helen McCall, Anna McCants; two aunts, Katie Wilson and Mable Garland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Major B. Lewis, Charles Jack (Bertha) Lewis and Harry (Emma) Lewis, Sr.

A page turned, a chapter completed, a race well run, a rest well earned, a soldier gone home.
