Obituary for William Bryant Sechrest

William Bryant Sechrest, 73, husband of Myrtle (Sharp) Sechrest, passed away Monday, July 10th, 2017. He was born May 24th, 1944 in Eastern Kentucky, son of the late Gilbert Foster and Grace (Elder) Sechrest. William retired from Lexmark International, formerly known as IBM. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. William graduated from Georgetown High School in 1962 and was a member of Springdale Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Optimist Club, Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts of America organization and had served as secretary and treasurer for the Lions Club. William had been active in the YMCA and volunteered to assist with the soccer, basketball and football programs over the years. In addition to his wife, William is survived by two sons, Brian Keith Sechrest and Michael Wayne Sechrest; four grandchildren, Machi Sechrest, Shaelin Sechrest, Andrew Alvarado and Jackson Sechrest; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue Ann (Dale) Fernandez, Darlene (Gill) Kidwell, Debbie Sharp, Mason (Barbara) Sharp, Allen Sharp and Douglas (Karen) Sharp. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Donnie Sharp. William’s Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 15th at 2pm at Springdale Baptist Church, 1380 Higbee Mill Road, Lexington, Kentucky, with Pastor Ken Gayheart officiating, followed by full military honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
