Dorothy Nell (Stakelin) Gaines, 86, widow of Winfred Lloyd Gaines, passed away Saturday, July 22nd, 2017. Dorothy was born August 22nd, 1930 in Scott County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Buckner and Anna Jane (Marshall) Stakelin. Dorothy was a member of Great Crossing Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She served as a buyer for many years for McAplins and worked in sales for Shillito of Lexington. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Ann (Rusty) Moss; her son, Ronnie Gaines; four grandchildren, Bryan Moss, Denise Sharp, Anthony Gaines and Nicholas Gaines; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Gaines, Keylee Tester, Braedan Gaines, Tanner Gaines, Elleson Gaines, Brandon Sharp and Corey Moss; one sister, Gussie (Howard) Fryman. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, where services will be held 11a.m. on Thursday with Rev. Bobby Sageser and Bill Stakelin officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Moss, Corey Moss, Brandon Sharp, Nicholas Gaines, Christopher Gaines, Rusty Moss, Bill Fryman and Scott Dews.
