Obituary for Bonnie Pearce Hall

Bonnie Pearce Hall, 85, wife of Robert “Bob” Hall, Jr, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017.

“Miss Bonnie”, as she was affectionately known, was born in Laurel County KY, March 21, 1932. One of five children born into a hard scrabble, depression era, farming family. She graduated from Perryville High School in 1950 and trained at Good Samaritan Hospital from 1950-1953 and graduated as an R.N. She served at Good Samaritan Hospital as a surgical nurse for 7 years, student supervisor, and had a 2-year stint in public health nursing in Lexington.

“Miss Bonnie”, was a prudent saver, yet selflessly generous; a devoted and loyal wife, mother and grandmother. A loving yet firm disciplinarian, she was quick witted, determined, and tough. A gracious hostess who welcomed all, she was a wonderful cook of all things comforting, as well as fearless, strong and stoic in the face of numerous health challenges.

She was a faithful follower of Christ, devout in her faith and church life at Central Christian Church and a believer in prayer as well as the miracles of heaven and modern medicine. She was a recipient of the holy and healing spirit and a witness to all she encountered.

For 53 years she took great pride in co-owning the family business Farmers Feed Mill, Inc./Hallway Feeds and served the business with great devotion carrying numerous roles over her lifetime.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her children, Lee Craig (Stephanie) Hall, Julia Kathryn Hall both of Lexington; grandchildren, Pearce Edward Hall and Robert Louis Hall; sister, Wilma P. Mattingly, Lexington; brother, Bruce M. (Ruth) Pearce, Simpsonville, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Boyd A. Pearce and Garnett P. Pearce.

A memorial service will be 11 AM Saturday, Sept. 2nd, with visitation at 10AM and following the service at Central Christian Church, Lexington, KY, conducted by Rev. David Shirey and Rev. Elizabeth King. Visitation will also be held 4-7 PM Wednesday, August 30th at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Nursing Scholarship Program, Central Christian Church Foundation Fund or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
