Obituary for James Earl Morrison

James Earl Morrison, 70, husband of Julia Ann “Judy” Rogers Morrison, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born in Cynthiana, KY, he was the son of the late Earl and Marjorie Morris Morrison, JR.

A retired mechanic with the Scott County Road Department, he enjoyed working and collecting old tractors as well as tractor pulling and steam engine train rides. He was a member of the Hinton United Methodist Church and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, James (Amanda) Morrison II, Sherri (Ronnie) Osborne, Tina Gail Stewart, Junior (Krista) Rogers, Daniel (Lindsey) Bain, Brandy (Richard) Kidwell, Jeremiah Rogers, Jacob (Brittany) Burton and Jeremy (Sierra) Burton; brother, Wallace Wayne Morrison; sisters, Linda (David) Hill and Laura Franklin; grandchildren, Devin Rogers, Haley (Jacob) Brock, Harley (Spencer) Rogers, Michael Kidwell, Douglas Kidwell, Willow Burton, Ivy Evans, Taylor Morrison, Meagan Osbourne, Justin Stewart, Lacy (Verl) Lawson, James (Hailey) Rogers and Andy Downs; great grandchildren, Jazmine Lawson, Samantha Lawson, Roman Rogers, Raiden Rogers, Dannie “Jessie” Brock, Keyona Shear and Kynia Shear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha Rogers; brother, Jerry Lee Morrison and grandchild, Michael Arteaga.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Michael Watson. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Casket bearers will be James Morrison II, Tony Burton, Jonathan Spencer, Jeremy Burton, Greg Gooden, Jacob Burton and Devin Rogers. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Wednesday.
