Obituary for Ellen Gregg Scobey

Ellen Gregg Scobey, 86, widow of John David Scobey, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017. Born in Scott Co, KY, she was the daughter of the late Claudie William and Pelagia Ellen Gregg.

A graduate of the Oxford School in Scott County, she served as a secretary for the Durkee company for many years. She was a member and faithful servant of the Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church and enjoyed being on her family farm with her family, friends and her lovable cat, Sam.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Elaine (Ron) Dolen, Louisville; granddaughter, Tara Elaine Dolen and great grandchildren, David Ray Jewell Jr and Alyssa Jordyn Jewell. She is also survived by her step children, John D. (Marilyn) Scobey, Jr, Stan (Mary Del) Scobey, Marilyn (Joe) Swing and Carol (Tom) Price, all of Nashville; as well as numerous step grandchildren, great children and special nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, R.B. Gregg, Harry Gregg, Richard Gregg, Ruby Wingfield, Rosa Watson, Lillian Able and Rhoda Roehrig.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday at her family farm, 577 Finnell Rd, Georgetown. Burial will follow at the Mt. Gilead Road Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM till service time at 1 PM on Saturday at the family farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.
