Harold Eugene James, 86, widower of Mary Betty James, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. Born in Scott County, he was the son of the late Charles and Louisa McFarland James.

A farmer, he enjoyed gardening at home and going to the horse races. He was a member of Georgetown First United Methodist and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his children, Tony James, Rosemary (Scott) Slaughter and Trixie (George) Black; sisters, Carrie Hoffman, Bonnie (Donald) Lynn and Betty Ann (Charles) Clifton; as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lima; brothers, Lewis James, George James and John James.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Greg Gallaher. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Georgetown First United Methodist Church or Salem United Methodist Church.
