Obituary for Margaret Mae Elam (Penn)

Margaret Mae (Penn) Elam, 90, widow of David McKinley Elam who passed away last week, passed away Saturday, January 20th, 2018. She was born November 29th, 1927 in Georgetown, Kentucky, daughter of the late George D. and Emma Forrest (Thompson) Penn. Margaret and her family were members of First United Methodist Church in Georgetown for decades. More recently she was a devoted member of Bless The Lord Church in Lexington and her love of Jesus was surpassed by no one. Margaret and David were married for almost seventy years. They worked side-by-side on the farm and later in the factories to build a better life for their family. She enjoyed gardening, canning food and taking care of her family. Margaret is survived by her four daughters, Jennifer Joan Elam, Paula Kay Elam (Jerome) Lange, Mary Elam and Margaret Davida Elam; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Rachel) Lange, Andrew (Hollister) Lange, Leah Bishop, Emily (Aaron) Starr, Aaron Lange, Niklaus (Sally) Elam, Janet Daum, and Joseph Cole; eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon (Kelsey), Daniel, Kealie, Keenan, Morgan, McKinley Marie, Lincoln David Lange, Tayler Nathaniel James Elam, (Caleb) Summitt, Mikeila Nelson and Andrew Bishop; her great-great-granddaughter, Addilyn Rae Summitt; two sisters, Pat Owen and Nancy (Vern) Woods. In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amy Lynn Daum. Visitation will be Monday, January 22nd from Noon until time of service at 1pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Ross officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
