Obituary for Ben Will Jacoby

Ben Will Jacoby, 78, retired purchasing agent and contracting officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018. Born in Georgetown, he was the son of the late Earl Brown and Lucille Pugh Jacoby.

A former athlete, he enjoyed all sports and played football, basketball and baseball in high school. He continued with sports throughout his life, refereeing high school football for many years. He loved the beach, enjoyed fishing and golf, and never missed his grandsons’ tennis matches. He was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church and was also a Mason.

He is survived by his daughters, Millie Jacoby (Jim Smith) Wrobleski and Etta Ruth Jacoby (Bruce) Tackett; grandsons, Trevor and Nickolas Wrobleski, Brandon and Casey Tackett; as well as three nieces and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl C. Jacoby.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Joel Moody, Jim Wright, Danny Bowling, Bruce Tackett, Jim Smith and Jerry Hamilton. Honorary bearers will be his grandsons. Visitation will be 11 AM till service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
