Obituary for Jack Wallace

Jack Wallace, of Georgetown, Kentucky, native of Owensboro, passed away surrounded by his wife and daughters at Thomson Hood Veterans Center on February 16, 2018. Jack was born December 30, 1935 in Henderson, Kentucky, son of the late Fred and Anna (Cummins) Wallace, Sr. He proudly served twelve years in the Air Force during the Korean War. Jack married Marjorie Yeiser December 17, 1965 at Red Hill Baptist Church in Utica, Kentucky. Jack and Marjorie celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2017. Jack worked at Alcoa in Newburgh, Indiana for 31 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Georgetown, Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Buena Vista Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky. Jack is survived by his wife, Marjorie Wallace and three daughters; Shelley (Matthew) Hopps and Krista Greathouse of Kentucky and Virginia Thomson of Prestwick, Scotland; eight grandchildren, Jackie Young of Florida, Katie Young, Connor Hopps, Faith Hopps, Benjamin and Madelyn Greathouse of Kentucky; and Michelle Hunter and Selina Cunningham of Prestwick, Scotland. Jack was very proud of his daughters and was a wonderful, loving Papaw to his grandchildren. Survivors also include three siblings; James Wallace and Anna Buchanan of Kentucky; and Virginia Culver of Indiana. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Matthew, Carl, Charles, Fred and William Earl Wallace and his sister Carrie Mae Fuller. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11am with Rev. Bob Fox officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #24. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Hopps, Tim LeDonne, Bob Yeiser, John Flynn, Earl Vance and Danny Blair. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Connor Hopps and Ben Greathouse. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for expression of sympathy to be made by donation to the Thomson Hood Family Council, 100 Veterans Drive, Wilmore, KY 40390 or to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice of the Bluegrass) 2409 Members Way, Lexington, KY, 40504.
