Obituary for Willena Sue Allen

Willena Sue Allen, 72, widow of Junior Ray Allen, passed away Sunday, April 22nd at the Thomson-Hood Veteran Center in Wilmore, KY. A native of Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Smith Bruin.

A former registered nurse, she was a member of the Stamping Ground Church of God and listend to southern gospel music. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading and was a veteran of the US Army.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Diane (Shawn) Luttrell, Frankfort and Jackie Ray Allen, Richmond; brother Charles Raymond “Jack” Bruin; sisters, Betty Devers and Linda Long; as well as four grandchildren, Benjamin Ford Luttrell, Aubriana Spring Luttrell, Jarrod Michael Duncan and Austin Howard. In addition to her spouse and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Patsy Bruin Swift, Lily Bruin Johnson, Billy Bruin, Bobby Bruin, John Bruin and David Bruin.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Robert Swift, Adam King, William Bruin, Robert Cannon and Calvin Christopher Devers. Honorary bearer will be David J. Long. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thomson Hood Family Council, Thomson-Hood Program Fund, 100 Veterans Drive, Wilmore, KY 40390.
