Obituary for Dolores Ann Howley (Henkel)

Dolores "Honey" (Henkel) Howley passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving family on Saturday, August 4th, 2018 in Georgetown, Kentucky. Born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania on April 13, 1930, daughter of the late Louis and Anne Henkel. Dolores was a selfless, kind and gentle lady with a quiet strength and an easy smile. Mother to Edwin Howley, Irwin, Pennsylvania, Diane Partridge, Louisville, Kentucky and Coleen Rice (James), Georgetown, Kentucky and grandmother to Pat Howley, Ed Howley (Jennifer), Jaime Rice and Cameron Rice. Her son-in law, James Rice, held a special place in her heart and was a proud great-grandmother to Savannah and Gabriella Howley.

Dolores was active in many community organizations, she was a den mother for Troop 283 in Irwin, Pennsylvania, a leader in Homemakers and the Red Hatters club in Ashland, Kentucky, was in the Double Nickel club at Saint John's Church and a volunteer for Georgetown Community Hospital. Dolores traveled extensively and was a proud Star Trek "Trekkie" but her real love was her church. Dolores volunteered extensively for years in many church activities. She sang in the Church Choir and was a Eucharist Minister at Holy Family Parrish in Ashland, Kentucky.

Dolores moved to White Oaks Village in Georgetown, Kentucky in 2006 where she joined Saint John’s Catholic Church and embraced the church by volunteering and supporting the activities whenever possible. At White Oaks Village, Dolores was a participant in many activities including the Lunch Bunch and Book Club. For years you could find Dolores volunteering and participating in the fun at many of the White Oak social events.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was proceeded in death by her husband, Patrick Howley and her brother, Robert Henkel.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:00am with Father Linh Nguyen officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made directly to Saint John's Building Fund, 604 East Main Street, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324.
