Obituary for J.C. Jones

J.C. Jones
J.C. Jones, aged 90, of Georgetown, Kentucky, widower of Ann Hammonds Jones, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 18th, 2018. J.C. was born Nov 28, 1927 in Georgetown, Kentucky to the late Ray and Jessie Burrows Jones. He is survived by two daughters, Sandy (David) Thurmond of Stamping Ground, Kentucky, and Jackie (Gary) Everling of Plainfield, Indiana; three grandchildren, Laura Thurmond, Joe (Latisha) Thurmond and Jayce Everling; three great-grandchildren Jaxson, Kaylee and Sophia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

J.C. was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, upon returning to Georgetown, he drove for Jones Taxi, his aunt and uncle’s family-owned business. He also worked for Logan’s Laundry and Sunshine as a driver, Clark Equipment as a machinist and Georgetown Church of the Nazarene as a custodian before he retired.

J.C. loved spending time with his family and listening to them sing in church. For several years, he always looked forward to Wednesdays, when he would play cornhole, where he was dubbed the “Cornhole King,” and enjoy a good meal with his numerous friends at church. Those who knew J.C., can attest to his contagious laugh, kind spirit, loving nature, and warm heart. He was the type of man who would do anything for you without complaint, and truly modeled his life after Christ Jesus.

The visitation will be at Georgetown Church of the Nazarene on Saturday August 25th at 9:00A.M., and the funeral will be held afterwards at 11:00A.M. with Reverend Larry Hammonds and Reverend Mike Justice officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Thurmond, David Thurmond, Kevin Martin, Jayce Everling, Gary Everling and Paul Hackney. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Amos Wilhoite, E.W. Switzer, Dean Silvey, Dale Epperson and J.W. Mefford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Georgetown Church of the Nazarene, 726 Lemons Mill Road, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324.
