Obituary for Marjorie M. "Nana" Allen

Jesus stepped down from heaven on January 20, 2017 to bring Marjorie M. Allen to her eternal home. Waiting for her at the golden gates of heaven were her loving parents Isabel (Simons) and Frank Camara with her two sisters Mildred Owsney and Catherine Robison.

Marjorie M.(Camara) Allen, “Nana”, 84, of Georgetown, Kentucky formerly of Somerset, Massachusetts, dedicated 30 years of service as an executive administrative assistant for the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Naval Underwater System Center of Newport, RI. Retiring in 1994. For the past 9 years Nana enjoyed her days working alongside the many friends she made while employed at the Hilton Garden Inn of Georgetown, Kentucky.

She leaves behind her 7 loving children; Karen Scott (Hawley) of Georgetown, Kentucky; Cheryl Moore (Gary) of Morrison, Tennessee; Lorna Andrews of Paintsville, Kentucky; Bonnie Blackburn (Pete) of Pikeville, Kentucky; Donna Mingerink (Rick) of Union, Kentucky; Franklin Allen (Haijing) of Shanghai, China and Bobbi Jo Allen of Georgetown, Kentucky and her former husband Roy F. Allen of Inez, Kentucky. She also loved unconditionally her 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren along with 6 nieces and nephews. Nana will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation will be Friday January 27th from 4:00-9:00pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home located at 641 South Broadway, Georgetown, KY 40324. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 28th at her church, Trinity Assembly of God with visitation from 12:00-1:00pm and funeral services at 1:00pm. Her final resting place will be where she was born in Somerset, Massachusetts with additional funeral services being conducted. A scholarship fund will be established in “Nana’s” name for needy children in her local community. Donations accepted by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
