George F. Lillis Jr. of Georgetown, KY passed away peacefully on Halloween night, 10/31/17, around 11pm Eastern Time. The past year had been a difficult one on George’s health. He had been suffering from Alzheimer’s, complications from Diabetes, and had just recently been recovering from a stroke he suffered last May.
George was born on August 13th, 1937 in Boston, MA from George F. Lillis Sr. and May Bowen. He was the youngest of four children. He received a BA in Philosophy from St. Anselm College in 1959. He went on to a distinguished 25-year career in Fleet Leasing, working at companies such as Hertz, Associates, and Dresser Leasing. He was involved with Dale Carnegie and Toastmasters. At one point he even taught classes at the University of Georgia! He ended his career in the state of KY, working for The Apartment Blue Book, Thrifty Car Rental, and for Veterans Outreach where he worked up until 2016.
George was a kind, gregarious, and extroverted human being who lived life to the fullest! He enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh. He was loved by many and was kind to even more. He had friends and business associates all over the USA. He was heavily involved in his Alma Mater’s Alumni Association, the Chamber of Commerce and was many times the President of the Irish Society in the communities where he lived in.
George is survived by his wife Donna Lillis and his three children, Michael, Patrick, and Sean, all born by his first wife, Joanne.
Funeral Services will be held this Saturday: Visitation is 9:00am to 10:00am at Johnson’s Funeral home: 641 S. Broadway Georgetown, KY 40324. Funeral is at 10:00am on Saturday.
