David Owens, Jr., 75, husband of Betty (Kelly) Owens, passed away Friday, March 16th, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington. He was born October 1st, 1942 in Georgetown, Kentucky, son of the late David and Geneva (Young) Owens, Sr. David served in the United States Army. He was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church and he enjoyed working on anything with an engine. In addition to his wife, David is survived by three daughters, Karen (Stanley) Gaines, Jackie Owens and Tammy Walls; nine grandchildren, Christopher Mowery, Jesse Gaines, Kimberly Trustee, Jimmy Dean Turner, Mark Gaines, Joycelynn Gaines, David Austin Seaton, Ashley Barber and Ethan Willhoit; sixteen great-grandchildren, Christopher Mowrey II, Jayden Cole Mowery, Chloe Gaines, Ayden Gaines, Brandon Soard, Angeline Soard, Madison Soard, Oliva Meradith, Isabella Turner, Julia Gaines, Jamie Pugh, Hunter Pugh, Brittany Pugh, Christian Hammons and Giada Hammons; three sisters, Sheila Summers, Edna Stanley and Linda (Dennis) Hedges. Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by one daughter, Angeline Murphy and one sister, Barbara Shackelford. Visitation will be Sunday, March 18th from 2 to 5pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, where services will be held on Monday at 2pm with Rev. Chester Palmer and Rev. Larry Joseph officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Mowery, Jimmy Dean Turner, Hunter Pugh, Vernon Baker, Jayden Mowery, Jamie Pugh and Chad Riddle. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity that assists Veterans.
