Dennis J. Wise, 78, of Georgetown, entered into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 19th, 2018. He was surrounded by his wife, family and friends. He was born in Owen County on October 26th, 1939 and was a graduate of “Owen County Class of ‘57”.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Bonnie Michael Wise; one son, Michael (Donna) Wise of Naples, Florida; one daughter, Michele Wise (Willie) Ray of Georgetown, Kentucky; one grandson, Brian Wise of Stamping Ground; two granddaughters, Teri Wise (Charles “C2”) Washington of Georgetown and Reilly Ray of Georgetown; three great-grandsons, Trayce, Skylar and Shawn Allen Washington and an unborn great-granddaughter. Dennis is also survived by his brothers, Calvin (Dora) Wise of Harrodsburg, James Wise of Lexington, Eugene Wise of Lawrenceburg, and Douglas (Carrie) Wise of Simpsonville; two sisters, Ora Lee Carr of Union and Linda (Owen) Stanley of Nicholasville; two aunts, Florence Green and Donna Boehm, both of Georgetown; thirteen nephews, fourteen nieces and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Eula Shelton Wise; two brothers, Philip Wise and Gary Wise; one grandson, Shawn Michael Wise.

Dennis was a devoted Christian and a member of North Fork Baptist Church in Switzer, Kentucky, where he served as a deacon, song leader, Men’s Sunday School teacher and Trustee. He loved southern gospel music and had been the lead singer for Mel-O-Tones and The Journeymen Quartet for several years. A Tool & Die maker by trade, he was the owner and operator of Wise Tool and Die in Stamping Ground before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed playing golf and had been a top archer in his younger years. Most of all, Dennis loved being with his family.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Services will be 1 PM Friday at North Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Stratton officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Wise, Willie Ray, Charles Washington II, Greg Carr, Billy Wise and J.T. Wise. Johnson’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
