Obituary for James Elmer "Jim" Way Sr.

James “Jim” Elmer Way, Sr., 97, husband of Gwen B. (Schultz) Way, passed away on August 28th, 2018. He was born October 27th, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Elmer Silas and Ogla Eleanor (Bergler) Way. Jim served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 24. He was a Sales Engineer for IBM for twenty seven years and retired from the Veterans Hospital where he was an electrical engineer. Jim’s life was defined by his faith and his Christianity. He was a member of Georgetown Church of the Nazarene. Jim was devoted to his beloved wife of sixty-one years and their seven children. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his three daughters, Ceeney (Ed) Dodson, Carol (Earl) Hefner and Nancy (Martin Jones) Way; his four sons, David R. (Barbara) Way, Daniel (Dena) Way, James Way, Jr. and David M. Way; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Louise (Millen) Way; one daughter-in-law, Annette Way; his sister, Helen Chilson; two brothers, Clarence Way and David Way. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4th at Johnson’s Funeral Home from Noon until time of service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 24 of Georgetown. Jim’s sons, grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
