Obituary for Dorothy Hassloch (Thornton)

Dorothy Thornton Hassloch, 94, widow of Mike Hassloch, passed away Sunday, October 14th, 2018. She was born December 30th, 1923 in Lexington, Kentucky, daughter of the late Pascol and Ruth (Browneller) Thornton. Dorothy retired from M&M Automotive where she was the bookkeeper. She was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church, the VFW Auxiliary Post 7054, a fifty year member of The Rising Star Chapter #680 OES and the Scott County Extension Homemakers Club. Dorothy enjoyed quilting for many years and playing Bingo at Lexington Country Place. Dorothy is survived by her son, Fred L. Hassloch and her step-son, James A. “Duckeye” Hassloch; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her devoted friends, Johnny and Jerri Berry, Hayden Murrell, Richard and Wanda Neal, Julie and Art Davis. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, David P. Hassloch; two sisters, Marian Wright and Frances Herder; one brother, Donnie W. Thornton. Visitation will be Thursday, October 18th, at Johnson’s Funeral Home from 9am until time of service at 11am with Reverend Jerry Ball and Reverend Bill Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hassloch, John W. Berry. Anthony Meza, Logan Murrell, David P. Hassloch II, Chad Truax, John Haskell, Lane Hassloch and Don Thornton. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Richard Neal and Chuck Johnson, posthumously.
