Obituary for Jackie Ray Shanks
Jackie Ray Shanks, 72, husband of Joann Eary Shanks, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Born in Madison County, KY, he was the son of the late George Buster and Doris Mae Hall Shanks.
A carpenter by trade who loved god and his family with all his heart, he was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing, but was best known for his work ethic and helping others.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his children, Jackie Ray (Bernice) Shanks, Jr, Lisa Mae Cook, Victoria Lynn (Doug) Fugate, Tammie Annette (Phillip) Burgess, Teresa Ellen (David) Collins and Anna Marie (Michael) Berry; sister, Ellen Wood; brother, Mason Shanks; as well as 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 12 PM Saturday at Oakwood Baptist Church, Cynthiana, KY, conducted by Rev. Dwayne Russell. Visitation will be 11 AM till service time.
