Obituary for John B. "Johnny" Lucas Jr.

John B. “Johnny” Lucas Jr., 75, passed away Friday, February 15th, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Johnny was born January 16th, 1944 in Georgetown, Kentucky, son of the late J.B. and Mattie (Irvin) Lucas. He retired from Gentry Tobacco Warehouse, where he was the Tobacco Warehouse Manager. Johnny was a member of Silas Baptist Church and he enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and playing solitaire. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and attending all of their events. Johnny is survived by his daughter, Tonya (Mike) Schornick and his son, John B. Lucas III; three grandchildren, Michael Schornick III, Morgan Schornick and Jensen Lucas; his sister, Alice (Ricky) Witt; the mother of his children, Bethel Lucas; his sister-in-law, Billie Sue Lucas; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Sammy K. Lucas. Visitation will be Monday, February 18th, from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11am with Pastor Curtis Coots officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Schornick III, Tom Witt, Ricky Witt, Nate Arrowood, Jake Arrowood and Sam Lucas. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Wigglesworth, Dean House, Forrest “Hawkeye” Hawkins, Jerry Martin, Ben Crain, Bill Vallandingham, Mike Routt, George “Spanky” Ammerman and Florence “Peaches” Scearce. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1317 US Highway 62E, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
