Obituary for Gwendolyn B. "Gwen" Way (Schultz)
Gwendolyn “Gwen” B. (Schultz) Way, 92, passed away with family at her side, on Sunday, February 24, 2019. The widow of James “Jim” Elmer Way, Gwen was born August 9, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to Elmer and Hazel Schultz. Her life was centered on her strong Christian faith, her husband of sixty-one years, and their seven children.
Gwen was a member of Georgetown Church of the Nazarene and Easternhills Homemaker's club. After her children left home she graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Nursing and worked for several years at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and the UK Hospital Eye Clinic. She taught reading in the Scott County Adult Education Program.
She is survived by her three daughters, Ceeney (Ed) Dodson, Carol (Earl) Hefner, and Nancy (Martin Jones) Way; four sons, James Way, Jr., David R. (Barbara) Way, Daniel (Dena) Way, and David Michael Way; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Beside her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one daughter-in-law, Annette Way.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 3rd, from 2 to 5pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4th at 11am at Johnson’s Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Justice officiating.
Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery with her sons and sons-in-law serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be directed to Evangelism Resources, 425 Epworth Ave, Wilmore, Kentucky 40390.
