Obituary for Jody Hambrick
Joseph Perry (Jody) Hambrick, 71, went home to be with the lord on Sunday, March 10th 2019. Born September 8th, 1947 in Georgetown, KY to the late Millard and Louise Hambrick. He spent many years working alongside his dad at Hambrick Shell until its closing. He served as the GM Parts Specialist with Frank Shoop and Dan Cummins until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Georgetown First United Methodist Church, he was a retired Sgt. 1st Class with the US Army Reserve Unit 2nd Division, Troop E, 302nd Calvary of the 100th Training Division.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Judy Hambrick and 2 sons Chris (Candi) Hambrick and Tony Hambrick of Georgetown KY; grandchildren, Mackenzie Hambrick, Chase Hambrick, Colten Hambrick, Morgan Hambrick, Jodiann Hambrick; sister, Terry Hambrick Willoughby; brothers and sisters in law Richard (Barbra) House, Larry (Ernestine), Pam (Ed) Seal, Jennifer (David) Cornett, Timothy (Bonita) House, Jonathan (Ulanna) House; as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister Jeannie Byar Hambrick; brother’s in law Billy House and Billy Willoughby.
Dad enjoyed playing softball, working on cars and small equipment, tending to his yard, gardening, camping, singing gospel music, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his church family. As the 2nd oldest member of the church, he enjoyed singing in the choir, serving as elder and serving on many boards. Known for his “best hugs ever”, words of wisdom and being a “rock” of support to all that knew him, he had a way of touching people and leaving and impression that has lived on with his family, especially his grandchildren, that were the light of his life.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday at Georgetown First United Methodist Church, conducted by Pastor Greg Gallaher. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-8 PM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Georgetown First United Methodist Church.
