Obituary for Nancy Jane Thornton (Faulkner)

Nancy Jane (Faulkner) Thornton, 79, wife of Charles “Charlie” A. Thornton Jr., passed away on Saturday, April 13th, 2019. She was born on June 17th, 1939 in Owen County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Martin) Faulkner. Nancy was a retired Social Worker with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She was an active member of Georgetown Baptist Church, where she sang in the Women’s Choir, played in the Hand Bell Choir and enjoyed attending her Bible study group. Nancy was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Georgetown Homemaker’s Club. In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Thornton and Laura (Stephen) Rice; her two sons, David (Gretchen Falkenburg) Thornton and Thomas Thornton; ten grandchildren, Matthew (Nathalie) Rice, Lauren (Izak) McQueary, Charles Andrew (Amanda) Rice, Hannah Nicole Thornton, Hilary Sarah Thornton, Erin Elizabeth (Micah) Music, Cameron Avery Thornton, Kieran Luke Thornton, Anna Thornton and Bess Thornton; three great-grandchildren, Harper Addison Thornton, Jack McQueary and Clark McQueary; two brothers, William (Beverly) Faulkner and Robert Faulkner. Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Thornton; her beloved grandmother, Florence “Mammy” Bond Martin. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18th, from 3 to 5pm at Georgetown Baptist Church with Nancy’s Celebration of Life Service to begin at 5pm with Pastor Alan Redditt and Pastor Tim Schindler officiating. Humor has always been a part of who Nancy was. Therefore, she would like anyone who is willing, to tell a funny story about her, or that has played a joke on her to speak at the service. Serving as honorary bearers will be, David Thornton, Kieran Thornton, Thomas Thornton, Stephen Rice, Matthew Rice, Andrew Rice, Izak McQueary, Jack McQueary, Clark McQueary, Andy Greynolds and Mike Devers. In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested that memorial contributions may be directed to Georgetown Baptist Church, 207 South Hamilton Street, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324 or to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1317 US Highway 62E, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
