Obituary for Raymond S. Poe

Raymond S. Poe, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 28th, 1927 in Mason County, Kentucky, son of the late Truman and Sadie (Tackett) Poe. Raymond served in the 1060th United States Army Air Forces Base Unit and had worked for the VA Hospital for thirty-two years. He was a member of Silas Baptist Church and the Nicholas County Fish & Game Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, country music and he adored his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his great-great-grandson. Raymond is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Nancy (Purvis) Poe; one daughter, Vicky Lynn (Curtis) Coots; three sons, Thomas Ray (Anita) Poe, Danny Merle (Betty) Poe and Ricky Wayne Poe; his honorary daughter, Martha Lynn (Dwayne) Grossl; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; two very dear friends, Charles and Mary Lane. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Katherine Osborn; one son, William Dudley Poe; one son-in-law, Marvin Osborn; ten brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Saturday, June 8th, at Silas Baptist Church from 10am until time of service at Noon with Pastor Curtis Coots officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 24 of Georgetown. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Lane, Jim Wetzel, Louis Dutton, Jerry White, Dave Biddle and Gary Wilson.
