Obituary for Aldred Ray Catron

Aldred Ray Catron, 83, widow of Billie Dean Catron, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019. Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Edgar and Nora Frogg Catron.

Al was a retired firefighter and EMT with the Scott County Fire Department. He held a black belt in Marital Arts, and was a member of the Martial Arts Hall of Fame and held a Doctorate Degree as well. He was a member of Central Church of God, was an avid reader and was an Army veteran, serving as a Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne.

He is survived by his sons, Edward (Allison) Catron, Mark (Tammy) Moore, Richard Dowd and William (Sallie) Dowd; grandchildren, Wesley and Lukas Catron, Travis (Kendra) Moore, Jamie Moore, Kaitlyn (Mathew) Baker and Brandon Dowd; great grandchildren, Landon and Rowan Moore, Oliver Thomas Baker, Kane Elliott Dowd, Gabriel Elliott Dowd, Nikoli and Lillieana Campbell. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Leah Dowd.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David Darby, Jason Mullanix, Craig Wink, Page Ray, James Kanavy, Revel Oliver and Kevin Smith. Honorary bearers will be Larry Elam, James Stone, Wayne Mullanix, Clifford Steinke, George Lusby, Tom Prather and Norman Wilson. Visitation will be 11 AM till service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
