Obituary for Eura "Butch" Smith Jr.

Eura “Butch” Smith Jr, 74, passed away on Saturday, April 11th, 2020, after a long illness. He was the beloved son of Eura Smith Sr. and Ann Ford (Kettenring) Smith. Eura grew up in Great Crossing, Kentucky, where he attended Great Crossing Elementary and graduated from Scott County High School. He attended Georgetown College, majoring in Speech and Drama and Eastern Kentucky University, majoring in Psychology and Philosophy. He graduated with a BA in Philosophy and then a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. He attended the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, where he earned a MSW and was licensed in Clinical Social Work. He worked for twenty-seven years as a Psychotherapist and Program Manager for Comprehensive Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Following his retirement, he operated a part-time private Psychotherapy Practice in Georgetown, Kentucky. He loved his farm and his two hundred year old log house in Sadieville, Kentucky. Before his illness, he spent time raising and riding horses, welding, reading and movies. Eura is survived by his sisters, Brenda Sue Wright, Elizabeth Ann “Sissy” West and Patricia Kay (Richard) Bridgforth; two nieces, Lisa Ann West and Janiene Nicole West; one nephew, Dwayne Brian Allen; one Aunt, Lena Mae McGill; his cousin, Carolyn Mae Simpson. In accordance with Eura’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Scott County Humane Society, 751 Slone Drive, Suite 13, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324.
