Angie, Robbie, Stephen, and Mark,
It saddens me to read that your lovely Mom passed away recently. I miss those Coppage Road days as my children Amy and Will became great friends with your family. What I remember the most was how soft and kind your Mom was, a special laugh with a smile as she talked and a very welcoming person. May you get through this difficult time knowing she lives in your heart now, and always. Nancy Ridge

I remember the night Lois was born at home at Pactolus, Ky. We lived up the road about 2 miles from the Little Sandy river. Mom went into labor and dad took off to Grayson to get the doctor. I was afraid and mom told me to get in bed with her while we waited on dad and the doctor. Doug and Lois mostly played together because my oldest brother and I were older, but like Doug mentioned, she was always the victim in our games. I got $5 somewhere, and I bought her a little purse and a matching umbrella. Dad’s friends would come to visit when she was about three, and they would ask her how many chickens dad stole last night. Dad did not steal any chickens, but she would always hold her little fingers out and say three. She was always there for all of us. A better sister, you will not find.

As a younger sister of three older brothers this little fiery redhead had it rough sometimes when we were children. Like when I accidently knocked her out of the family jeep when she was about two or three years old and she held her breath. When we would play cowboys and Indians and tie her up sometimes. Later on as a teenager we protected her. Like on the school bus one time when a boy would not put the window up because it was blowing her hair. I smacked him and put it up myself, I really shouldn't have done that. She admitted to being a little jealous of me when we were young as I was the only one of the four kids that had brown eyes like our mother as she and my two brothers had blue. I remember bringing her a nice outfit as a gift when I returned from Vietnam. So long little sister, the parting will only be for a short time. Doug Spillman, age 74, Flatwoods, KY youngest brother closest to Lois.
