Emma Jean (Harper) Yates, 75, wife of Joseph “Joe” Yates, passed away on Thursday, December 31st, 2020. She was born on March 27th, 1945 in Salyersville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Clyde and Rose (Helton) Harper. Emma retired from St. Joseph Hospital where she had worked in Environmental Services. Emma was a devoted member of The Old Paris Road Church of God. She loved to cook for her family and spend time with them any chance she could, especially at the beach. In addition to her beloved husband Joe, Emma is survived by her four children, Jeffrey L. (Carol) Gibson, Michael R. (Carla) Gibson, Lisa A. (Rodney) Helton and Heather M. Patrick; seven grandchildren, Thomas Gibson, Michael Brandon Gibson, Chris (Crystal) Gibson, Matt (Ann) Gibson, Michelle Germond, Lauren Germond and Brittany Miller; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Natalie Gibson, Josh Zachary, Hunter, Madysen, Kyleigh and Cameron Gibson, Ryan Guenther and Skylar L. and Carson Ray True; her sister, Dora (Charles) Cooper; one brother, Adrian (Dorothy) Harper; numerous nephews, dear friends and the staff that she met at Fresenius Kidney Care Center. Besides her parents, Emma was preceded in death by one brother, James Whitt Harper. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5th from 5 to 7pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Georgetown. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at 12:30PM at The Old Paris Road Church Of God, 1859 Old Paris Pike, Lexington with Pastor Tony Prince officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Gibson, Rodney Helton, Mason Kelley, Kyle Douglas and Jordan True. To abide by the current regulations, please wear a face covering at all times and practice social distancing requirements while at the visitation and the service. Both the funeral home and the church will be following the fifty-percent capacity limitations.
