Obituary

Garry Wayne “Galley” Willis, 73, passed away on Monday, April 19th, 2021. He was born on October 28th, 1947 in Scott County, Kentucky, son of the late George Willis and Anna Pearl Williams. Garry retired from Trane after twenty-three years with the company. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Garry loved to be with his family and friends, being at every family reunion and he loved to listen to Jazz music and attend concerts. Garry is survived by his wife, Constance (Christopher) Willis; his son, Kevin (Gina) Willis; his daughter, Nakia Ingram; four grandchildren, Tevin Willis, Larmarion McGrapth, Jaivyn Patterson and Kaiden Ingram; two great-grandchildren, Taelyn Ambrey Willis and Taivon Willis; four sisters, Mary Young, Janet McIntyre, Julia Francis and Constance Lewis; three brothers, Stanley (Elaine) Williams, Lawrence (Jackie) Lawson and Larry (Emily) Williams; two sisters-in-law, Betty Williams and Adelaide Willis; a special cousin, James Frank Thomas; his two best friends, Claude Mitchell and Richard Harris. In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by two brothers, George Willis Jr. and James Anthony Williams; four brothers-in-law, Charles Young, Wallace McIntyre, Andrew Francis and Harry Lewis. Visitation will be Saturday, April 24th, from 11am until time of service at 1pm at First Baptist Church with Reverend Chester Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Due to the current regulations, please wear a face covering and observe social distancing requirements while visiting with the family and during the service. The church will be at sixty percent capacity for the service. The repass will be at The Ed Davis Learning Center following the committal service at the cemetery. Arrangements in care of Johnson’s Funeral Home. “Caring for someone is not a gift to be repaid, it’s a gift from God”—his wife, Constance Willis.

My condolences and prayers go out for my family members as we were double kin. Galley Wayne I have never seen you get out of character. Always fun and could dance a little. You will truly be missed my day after birthday partner. My heart goes out to Nakia and Kevin especially Tootie Frances lol. Your entire family and friends. Rest on my friend you are missed but you’re at peace.
