Obituary for Darrell D Taylor
Darrell D. Taylor, 72, husband of Judy Tucker Taylor, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. Born in Keno, KY on September 22, 1948, he was the son of the late Virgil and Susie Mae Davis Taylor.
Bro. Taylor served as the Pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for the past 48 years. He was instrumental in bringing Upward Basketball to Scott County through Cedar Grove Baptist where more than ten thousand kids played/cheered in the past 15 years. He retired from Randall’s as a meat cutter after 20 years of service and worked as an associate with Johnson’s Funeral Home for the last 20 years as well.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his children, Stacy (Troy) Hawkins, Scott (Debra) Taylor and Jeff Taylor; sisters, Glenda (Robert) Johnson and Linda Hartmann; grandchildren, Mollie (Evan) Stout, Bailey (Chandler) Dawson, Anna Kate Hawkins, Tucker Hawkins, Emma Brown, Alex Brown and Scotlyn Taylor; brother-in-law, Jerry (Di) Tucker; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his beloved Cedar Grove family.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, August 30, 2021 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Hershel York. Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Aaron Popp, Rockey Kouns, Joe McFarland, Jonathan Gagel, Steven Parker and Dane Farrar. Honorary bearers will be Tim Harpe, Rob Stanley and Barry Hibbard. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Gideon’s International or Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
