Mary Jo (McKenna) Johnson, 64, widow of Christopher Wayne Johnson, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021. She was born on April 29, 1957 in Elgin, Illinois, daughter of the late Joseph and Grete (Miller) McKenna. Mary Jo received her Bachelor Degree in Education from The University of Kentucky, her first Master’s Degree in Education from Georgetown College and her second Master’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Mary Jo enjoyed swimming, needlepoint, crafts, video games and having fun with her family and friends any chance she could. Mary Jo is survived by her two daughters, Allison (Meg Coughlin) Johnson and Emily (John Teague) Johnson; her siblings, Kristine (Dr. Samuel) Granieri, Kathleen McKenna, Dr. Michael (Susan) McKenna, Patrick (Nancy) McKenna, Julie (Mark) Bures, Jane McKenna, Meg (Casey) Warnecke; her sister-in-law, Kelly McKenna; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Jo was preceded in death by one brother, Peter McKenna; her mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Carolyn Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Harvey Shrout; one nephew, Hudson Granieri; two nieces, Kristen and Lauren Shrout. Visitation will be Thursday, September 16 from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home. The Christian Burial will be held 10:30am on Friday at St. John Catholic Church with Deacon Dallas Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
