Hazel Darlene (Tackett) Rains, 59, widow of Garnett Wayne Rains, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021. She was born March 15, 1962 in Campton, Kentucky, daughter of the late Arlie Tackett and Dorothy (Johnson) Spencer. Darlene had worked for Georgetown Printing and was retired from Prudential Life Insurance where she had been an agent. She was a member of Oxford Christian Church and she enjoyed gardening, flowers and being around and helping with children any chance she could. Darlene is survived by her granddaughter, Skylar Rains; two sisters, Audrey Rains and Betty Nantz; two brothers, Johnny (Bonnie) Tackett and Charles Tackett; two brothers-in-law, Bill Dickey and Peter (Amanda) Rains; numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Gunnar W.R. Rains; two sisters, Shirley Slemp and Alice “Skippy” Dickey; one brother, David Tackett. Visitation will be Thursday, September 30th at Johnson’s Funeral Home from 11am until time of service at 1pm with Reverend Marilyn Stivers officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Skylar Rains, Nick Conley, Josh Licon, Bobby Courtney, David W. Tackett, Jacob Jones and Connor Courtney. Darlene’s great nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers, as well as Bill Dickey.
