Obituary for Bruce Gordon Oliver

Bruce Gordon Oliver “Papa”, 83, husband of Deborah Finch Oliver, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late Ian and Doris Penz Oliver.

At the age of 16, he moved to Wheaton, Illinois. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Army, honorably served his country as a Private First Class and gained a strong passion for helicopters.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, he was the owner/operator of Renick & Company. Bruce had a strong love for restoring old cars, specifically Ford Mustangs. His restorations were highly regarded and won him many trophies and awards. Most of all he cherished time with his family, whom he loved so dearly.

In addition to his beloved wife of 44 years, he is survived by his two sons, Chris (Jill) Oliver, Jeff (Patricia) Oliver, daughter, Samantha Oliver, brother, Ian Oliver, grandchildren, Henry, Charlie and Ivy Oliver, Ava, Colton and Gracelyn Oliver, Finley, Kennedy, and Brody Ison, numerous nieces and nephews, beloved dogs, Woodford, Mathilda and Luna.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2024 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Scott County Animal Shelter, 1185 Cardinal Drive, Georgetown, KY 40324.
