Obituary for Shelly Gray Molpus

Shelly Marie (Gray) Molpus, 64, wife of John P. Molpus, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Born in Middletown, NY, she was the daughter of the late John David Gray and Marie LaRue-Wyman. She was also adored by her in-laws, Barbara Molpus and the late Howard Molpus.

A retired Certified Kentucky Master Florist, Shelly had the deepest love for her family, and could not have been more proud of each and every one of them. Above all else, she was devoted to her family and friends.

Shelly also had a love of sports. She loved the NY Mets and Jets. She also loved the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and the SF Giants, but not if they were playing her NY teams. She was a fan of the Michigan Wolverines, and enjoyed their recent National Championship season. She was a member of two long-running Fantasy Football leagues, and she rooted for Joey Logano in NASCAR. She always stood/covered her heart for our National Anthem, even in the living room, and would expect that everyone would do the same. She had an infectious sense of humor, was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting and decorating. A proud Middletown (New York) High School alumni from the Class of 1977, she had the fondest memories of her time as a Middie cheerleader. She enjoyed working out at Planet Fitness, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Michael Smith, Katelyn Smith and Laureen (Brandon) Smith-Bowens; step children, John Molpus, Jr and Jessica (Jason) Mallin; siblings, Lynann Gray Day, Bradd Gray and Danny Wyman; Shelly could not have been more proud to have been the Memaw to Madox Smith, Macee Smith, Malee Smith, Madee Smith, Cayven Smith, Kenley Smith, Chloe Smith-Bowens, Donovon Smith-Bowens, Landon Smith-Bowens, James Mallin, and Josephine Mallin; as well as her precious dog, Gracie. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Laureen Gray.
