Condolence From: Nancy Sharp Goldston
Condolence: Just the mention of Happy and Janice brings a smile to my face. Don't know that you would remember me, but Mickey Hood, my first husband, and I spend many an hour at your home when you kids were little, and all of us adults were VERY young! Those were college days and then early teaching days. One never makes friends quite like those early ones. Through the years, I have touched base with your parents and each time the years just dropped away and we shared another great visit. Just a few months ago, I had the privilege of renewing phone visits with Janice while she was in West Virginia. What a strong lady she was! I was terriby saddened by her passing and then again by that of your dad. No finer people...I was privileged to be their friend. Love and blessings to all of you and your families.

Condolence: Happy and Janice were college friends with my Mom (Nancy) and my Father (David, a.k.a. "Mickey"). I knew them my whole life and they always made me feel special whenever we would have the chance to visit with them. Janice would always ask about what going on with me, school, the family and so on. Happy would always make me laugh.
I'll never forget what a prankster Happy was. Once, we went to visit them for a couple of days while they were living down in Lynch. At that time Happy was serving as Superintendent, Basketball Coach, and Lord only knows what else. Well, we pulled up to the house to announce our arrival and Janice informed us that Happy was down at the high school gym having basketball practice. So, we went down to the gym to see what kind of team he had to work with. As it turned out, he had one tall fellow, who was pretty good (and went on to play at EKU, I think). Let's just say his other players were quite young and not of the same caliber.
At some point during the practice Happy asked me to go out there an scrimmage with them. At that time I was in great shape, a decent player in my own right, with strong fundamentals, as my Dad had also been a coach. However, I WAS twenty years old! So, we scrimmaged and I got several rebounds, blocked a handful of shots, and did a through job of knocking those boys around. Eventually, practice came to an end and Happy told us to go to the house ahead of him. He soon followed and told us that his boys were asking several questions about me. Don't you know, Happy had told them I was going to be a new student at Lynch and I would be playing basketball. When they asked him how old I was, he replied (no doubt, with a straight face), "He's fifteen years old."
Although I haven't talked to them for the past several years, I will truly miss them. They were, and are, a big part of my life. May they both rest in peace.

Condolence: How sad I am to hear of Mr. Osborne's passing. He and Mrs. Osborne were my teachers at Falmouth when I was in 7th & 8th grade. They were dearly loved by their students and I will never forget either one of them. They were very special people! I am consoled, though as I know you are, that they are both reunited in Heaven where you will see them again. God bless you all.
