Sylvia Tackett Johnson, 102, of Avondale Ave, homemaker and Widow of Everett L. Johnson died Tuesday April 3, 2007 at the Georgetown Community Hospital.
Born September 25, 1904 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Ida Reynolds Tackett and was associated with Clays Mill Road Baptist Church. She recently received a special certificate from Senator Damon Thayer in honor of her 102nd birthday.
Survivors include 6 children, Earl Lynn (Ann) Johnson, Leron H. (Pam) Johnson and Peggy Joyce Johnson, all of Lexington; Jackie Lewis Johnson, Everett L. Johnson, Jr. and Carolyn A Barber, all of Georgetown; 25 grandchildren: Ruby Matthews, Brenda Butcher, Jeanette Overbee, Ruth Ann Gillispie, Linda Fizer, Barbara Hampton, Bertha Land, Leron Johnson, Jr., Jack Albert Dunn, Shawn Johnson, Billy Lay, Dana Mitchell, Craig Barber, Jeff Barber, Tina Haddix, Melissa Montgomery, Brent Allen Johnson, Karen Simpson, Kevin Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Tammy Johnson, Tonya Johnson, Trina Johnson and Travis Johnson; 36 Great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Katherine McTyre and Lula Sorrell.
She was preceded in death by 3 daughters, Willie Mae Page, Hazel Lee Dunn, Ruby Lee Covington; four sons, James L. Johnson, Johnny Ford Johnson, Leonard Johnson and Donald Gene “Butch” Johnson and one grandson, Mike Johnson
Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Johnson’s Funeral Home by Pastor Charles H. Barrineau and Bro. Flynn Rogers. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson’s grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Honorary bearers will be Kelly Butcher, B.J. Butcher, Brent Allen Johnson and Leron Johnson, Jr. Visitation will be 5—8:00PM Friday at the funeral home.
