Obituary for Waldo "W.C." Asher

Waldo “W.C.” Asher, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 1st, 2015. He was born January 4th, 1932 in Leslie County, Kentucky, son of the late Beldon and Maultie (Langdon) Asher. W.C. was an Elder at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Fayette County. He was a Kentucky Colonel and faithfully read his bible every morning. W.C. loved bluegrass music and had played with Buck Owens and Minnie Pearl early in his musical career at The Grand Old Opry. He enjoyed watching westerns, turkey hunting and being outdoors any chance he could get. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Fay (Bruin) Asher; six daughters, Sherry Gail Wimmer, Pansy Saylor Strickland, Pamela Asher (Sean) Gough, Angela Kallembach, Cindy Renee (John) George and Brittany LaMara (Nicholas) Key; one son, Daniel Shane Asher; six grandchildren, Joshua Atkins, Daniel B. McComb, Hayli A. Strickland-Payne, Gary Schilmiller, Amanda Schilmiller, Michael Keifer, Mark Keifer and Dalilah Asher; eight great-grandchildren, Addison Atkins, Pypar Gail Adkins, Jacob Keifer, Marcus Keifer, Jerome Davis Schilmiller, Brandon McComb, Randy McComb and Bryce McComb; two sisters, Norma Floyd and Cathy Staley; two brothers, Raymond (Mary Ruth) Asher and Beldon (Helen) Asher, Jr. In addition to his parents, W.C. was preceded in death by one grandson, Randy B. McComb and six brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home, where services will be held on Friday at 11am with Lay Pastor Pat McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Shane Asher, Kent Campbell, Todd Williamson, P.J. Seagriff, Chris Swartz, Sean Gough, Nicholas Key and Oakley Lee.
