Obituary for Rev. Jeffery Simpson

Reverend Jeffery Simpson, 95, of Frankfort passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, in his home. Born in Harlan County, Kentucky on May 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Henry and Delia Simpson. He was married to the late Amanda Simpson for over 50 years. They were both members of the Old Paris Road Church of God. Having served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Los Angeles CA-45, he was ordained by the Church of God and served full-time for 43 years of ministry. During that time he pastored churches in Wallins Creek, Harlan, Loyall, Lexington (Liberty), Florence, Clay City, and Richmond. In addition, he served as State Evangelism Director and served on numerous state and national boards. Even in retirement, he was much sought after guest speaker. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Gail Simpson of Frankfort; two grandsons: Greg Simpson and his partner Graham Hankin of New York, NY; and Brent Simpson his wife, Melinda, and their two children, Joshua and Olivia of Frankfort. We are grateful to Charlene Mohr for the love and care she provided that allowed him to remain in his home. Visitation will be from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, August 11 at the Old Paris Road Church of God, 1859 Old Paris Rd, Lexington, with the funeral to follow at 7:00pm. Burial will be on Saturday, August 12 at 1:00pm in Resthaven Cemetery in Harlan, KY. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Bluegrass Hospice Care or Old Paris Road Church of God.
