Obituary for Leslie Charles "Les" Olsen, Jr.

Leslie “Les” Charles Olsen, Jr., 86, passed away Tuesday, May 8th, 2018. He was born June 7th, 1931 in McHenry, Illinois, son of the late Susan (Speaker) and Leslie Charles Olsen, Sr.; Les served in the United States Navy and was a Construction Supervisor for Tonyan Construction Company. He had been a union carpenter and served as past-president of the Georgetown-Scott County Board of Tourism. Les and Muriel owned and operated The Pineapple Inn Bed & Breakfast in Georgetown for many years. In addition to his wife, Les is survived by two sons, Jim (Jean) Olsen and Richard (Sharon) Olsen; thirteen grandchildren, Kevin, David, Travis, Ben, Katie, Michael, Maggie, Patrick, Erin, Phillip, Alex, Andi and Noelle; four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Kylie, Jack and Stella; one step-daughter, Suzette Walter; two step-sons, Joseph (Ruth) Walter and Ron (Amy) Houghton; one sister, Susan (Bob) Low; a daughter-in-law, Becky. In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Kline; two step-sons, Steve Houghton and Daniel John Walter. Visitation will be Monday, May 14th, at Johnson’s Funeral Home from 10:30am until time of service at 12:30pm. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #8. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Olsen, Phillip Olsen, Jim Olsen, Joseph Walter, Michael Olsen, Patrick Olsen and Nolan Strobridge. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Veterans Hospital, 1101 Cooper Drive, Lexington, Kentucky, 40502 or donate online at .https://www.lexington.va.gov/giving/index.asp
